A PET'S TEN COMMANDENTS

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you islikely to be painful.

2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.

3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.

4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends,your entertainments, but I have only you.

5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.

6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.

7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet I choose not to bite you.

8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself ifsomething might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long or my heart might be getting old or weak.

9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old.

10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so.

Camping again!

McLaren Campground in Long Sault Ontario is about 50 minutes from home and is one of 4 wonderful campgrounds along the Long Sault parkway. We packed up the motorhome and took off Thursday evening. This time we remembered dish soap!!!!

The campground was near empty and just perfect. Everywhere we looked we could see water and geese. We were able to set up camp, have a campfire and watch Sid hunt down bugs. She has a wonderful imagination and was really having fun catching pretend lizards with her butterfly net.

The lot was not as nice or private as the Provincial park, however, they had a fantastic climber for the kids. Sid loved walking the dogs to the park so we could meet up with other families and play.

We brought the bikes and went for a long ride. We found a near deserted picnic area and dock where we stopped for snacks and Sid and Ken looked for fish.
The dogs were so well behaved once again! This time we were on a corner lot with so many dogs walking by. The pups were really good and rarely barked. Their favorite part had to be the discovery of ground hog holes near the climber. We couldn't keep Maggie out of them.

The next trip with the motorhome will be in a few weeks to visit Granny and Grandpa. Can't wait!

Get You Motor(home) Runnin'

Imagine.... a beautiful provincial park, sun, 39 degrees with the humidex and the gentle hum of the motorhome air conditioner. We took camping to the next level and it was awesome. Water, electrical, toilet and shower, fridge, stove, oven and air conditioner. Who knew camping could be so easy?
While packing up, I began thinking I was crazy to bring the two dogs and toddler to a busy campground. I quickly found out I had nothing to worry about. We were there Friday night until Sunday and despite the other dogs, kids on bike, people walking by the campsite, the dogs never barked. They got lots and lots of walks and the humidity knock any remaining energy out of them. When we went in the motorhome for lunch we sat at the table and the dogs curled up on the floor and slept, happy to be off duty.
Sidney was amazing too. Picking up caterpillars, rocks and sticks, finding fun playing in the dirt and roasting wieners and marshmallow over the fire were favorite parts of her weekend. I loved being able to walk the dogs everywhere.
We are going to go again next week!

It is so humid for June! I love it because Sid's hair is awesome when it is really humid. You can almost hear it SPROING when you take her hat off. Here we were having fun weeding the front garden.

Fun Despite the Rain

The rain couldn't keep us in this weekend. While I played in a hockey tournament on Saturday, Ken and Sidney went to Cumberland Museum to see our friend Todd with his first photography exhibit. The museum is Cumberlands best kept secret! It is something to see with a large scale model railroad, a town recreated from buildings and houses from the area and because of the festival Tony D was there to entertain with his phenominal guitar playing. When I got home from hockey, Ken took us all back to the festival for a bbq dinner and music. It was overcast so few people were out and we were able to enjoy Tony D up close and personal. Befoer it got too dark Ken and Sid went on a train ride. It was awesome! The skies did eventually open and we all fled to our cars and called it a night.

Sunday brought the threat of more rain so we went out early and took Sid and the dogs geocaching again. It was a beautiful trail not too far from our home. Mosquitos were held at bay by the cooler temperatures and Sid was thrilled to find a park so close to the cache.

Rain again tomorrow so we will go for a car ride and then get two more caches if we are lucky.
