We are still totally loving the hibernation and harmony it brings to our home. We still get to see friends everyday but we have put the brakes on driving to the city three - four times a week.
Our new little friend Jagger is settling in nicely and the integration into "general population" is slow and steady. The dogs can all sit in front of him while he sits on our laps or on the couch and they don't jump on him. They all love to snuffle him and lick him. I am hoping they aren't tasting him.
He still has his own room with a gate at the door so he has a safe space. When he gets bigger and can handle the barrage of Airedales on his own, we will return his room to Sid. But in the meantime she doesn't mind sharing at all!
I decanted our lemon pine syrup that I made three weeks ago and it is so good! It tastes like lemonade! This is the syrup that is great for coughs and incredibly high in vitamin C. Sid lost her voice on Friday, right before the tournament, so we dosed her up with lots of lemon syrup and the cold never came. She still has a squeaky voice but she never got the lung cold or sore throat that everyone else has been getting!
I have been so busy in the shop! I sold several bee mobiles, a rocket mobile and a bunny mat in the last few weeks. However, Sid and I still had time to create these amazing wet felted rocks for Anna's birthday. First they are wet felted then needle felted. The possibilities are endless! Currently I am working on a Bee mobile, a sheep mobile (both already sold!) and creating a special something for a friend who is expecting. Can't wait to finish that one!
This past weekend was filled with not home time! We took Sid to a tournament on Saturday and she had a birthday party on Sunday. The tournament was great! Above you can see Megan wearing her regular tourney attire, a Sidney!

Sid has been doing her soft forms at all the recent tourneys (Kung Fu style forms) so it was nice to see her show her power and intensity.
Without sounding too braggy... her kata's were miles above the other girls in her 7 - 9 year old division. Training to compete on the world stage put miles between her and other local kids. The regional tournaments are fun practice but don't even come close to the level of competition we see at the WKC tourneys.
It is still really nice to see her "turn it on" when it comes time to
preform compete.

She showed incredible restraint and only went about 50% power. She even went to throw her 360 kick and stopped herself. She showed so much maturity for a little kid. We were so proud of her.
Finally for the first time ever she compete in a weapons kata with her bo staff. It was tough because her entire kata is filled with really loud Ki-ai's and she had no voice left. She couldn't do much more than squeak.
Sid just learned how to use a staff and was taught the form last week. We are beyond proud that she competed with it and to top it off, she earned a 3rd place!
After all the tournament fun it was off to supper with some of our karate friends! Beth couldn't make it because she was super sick but Caylie, her mom Gillian and her sister Chloe joined us.

It was a long day but a really fun one. Sid, Dad and Mom were all done and ready to head home to bed!
