Catching Up

We had a wonderful family brunch to celebrate Ann's birthday and our anniversary. Thanks Georgette and Bill! It was great watching the kids hanging out together and the adults had some time to catch up and chat.

This week I was lucky enough to be talking to the right person at the right time regarding the new regulation goalie gear. As of fall 2009 I need to get regulation size gloves for our competitive hockey league and my friend had a brand new set for sale. Lucky me! Perhaps not so lucky for my team! New gloves are such a hassle. I have dreaded this day and could wait until summer to start breaking them in but hey why not live dangerously? The first game with them we won 3 - 1 and the one goal against was a clear shot right over my smaller glove... sigh.... The entire team laughed and laughed, it really was pathetic. Next game was a shutout and last night a blow out of 5 - 4 against. Gloves were responsible for 2 of the 5 goals grrrrrr. I just don't know where the puck is going to go when it hits them. This is a lesson in humility. We are just heading into playoffs as well so it isn't a great time for new gear but hey nothing like scaring yourself and your team silly!

Winter is back with a vengeance. We were teased with some warm weather and now more snow. Sid and Dad were going to go out and build a snowman but quickly discovered the snow was not sticky enough. Being a quick thinker, Daddy decided it was time to teach Sid the finer points of fort building.

Special thanks to Nan Nan today who brought over a wonderful puppet theater for Sidney. She had so much fun. The first play was Bath Bunny Hops and the second was Cat gets stuck in a tree. Very, very entertaining and Sid's imagination is just running wild. Your shopping savvy is greatly appreciated!

Happy Valen-versary

Ken and I started "dating" 18 years ago on February 12th and were married in 98 on the same day so we usually celebrate our Anniversary and Valentines day together which is why we find ourselves wishing each other a happy Valen-versary.

Ken got Sidney and I beautiful matching white gold heart pendants with diamonds in them. They are identical except that Sid has a small version of mine. It was the most beautiful heartfelt gift. Our guy is just the most romantic and thoughtful man. I was actually (almost) speechless opening the gift. Even after 18 years he is the man of my dreams, an inspiration, my best, best, best friend and a such wonderful man for our daughter to look up to. It amazes me how I can fall in love with him over and over again.

We had a very busy week with a fun trip to the museum with Sid's friends Charlotte and Emily (forgot the camera!!) then on Friday we went to Build a Bear with Charlotte and Emily (forgot the camera) and today we got to see the Doodlebops Live (forgot the camera!)

At build a bear Sid chose a Jack Russel Terrier and named her Jelly Bean. She is so cute. She has four rainbow coloured shoes, jeans and a t-shirt with a peace symbol, panties, a leash and collar and a puppy that can hang from her mouth. Inside she is stuffed with a special heart that actually beats when you squeeze her. The entire experience was wonderful and the play value with Jelly Bean is great. I can't wait to go back and get her some pajamas!!!!

Tonight we went to Jules' place because her mom is in town and had a wonderful dinner and jammed for a few hours with Gerry. What a great time. Sid was wonderful as usual and had fun playing with the cats. She made everyone including Buddy (the dog) valentines and was so excited to hand them out to everyone!

Go Sens Go

Ya, they lost again but still it was an awesome time with just Sid and I sitting 7 rows above the ice in fantastic seats. A business associate of Ken's gave us the tickets and parking pass to the game and Ken was unable to go so Sid and I went together. It was soooo fun. Even though Sid the Kid is only 3, she loved the atmosphere and pace of the game. She watched all the first period with a quick break up to the snack bar for popcorn and a juice then we had to watch the Zamboni because she had never seen two at the same time before. How EXCITING! Then we sat through the entire second period and when the third period started Siddy climbed up on my lap and I knew it would soon be time to go because it was late, late late. With only 10 minutes left in the game and a score of 0 - 0 we headed home.We met Spartacat on our way out and it complete the fun evening for Sid. She was so cute walking through the corridors in her team Canada jersey which she decided she needed to wear to the game. We also bought her a really cute pink Sens hat to complete the outfit. We had a such a wonderful evening I will never forget!

And this is just a completely silly picture of Groovy being Groovy. She hates things that fly. They must be destroyed. Bees, wasps, flies, Frisbees, birds and now balloons are included in the list of arch enemies.

First of all, how cute are those little black and pink hockey gloves? Sid is so thrilled with them she wants to wear them to skating tomorrow! Atta girl, keep the stick below the shoulders and it isn't high sticking!

On Friday we went skating with Sid's friend Charlotte and her big sister Emily and their mom and dad and Sid was on the ice for an hour and 15 minutes. She was really tired after having been home sick all week but was ecstatic to finally be out having fun. Poor Emily is 5 and is just learning to skate and was devastated to see Sid out there skating without support or one of those learn to skate bars. Sid kept telling her how well she was doing and I am not sure that was really helping the situation.

The Ballet Studio

Over Christmas Sidney asked if she could please, please, please take ballet and Saturday was her first class. Again her friend Charlotte was there and has been in this class since September and will go until June. Sid signed up until June with the first 25 minutes tap and the second 25 minutes ballet. Unfortunately my camera batteries died after one picture so I got some with my cell phone. I will post good pictures after next weekends class. It was so unbelievably cute. Sidney decided she wanted to dance instead of gymnastics for the spring so this is what we are doing. I am out of my realm but she is having a great time!

Sid is the little one in the middle catching on really quickly. It i shard to believe all these kids are only 3 years old. Charlotte is left of Sid and also a tiny kid.

This past week while home sick Sid spent a lot of time doing sensory stuff like playdough and crafts. She also drew this picture of herself with a robin above her in the sky and a flower on her right. What cracked me up was her narration of her drawing. I don't remember everything she said but when she was drawing her face she drew the head, curly hair and eye bulbs that are blue.

When people ask if I let my dogs up on the furniture I wonder if they ever picture this? Now the funny thing is whenever I take Groovy for a home visit to approve a family for a rescued Airedale, she usually does this, she gets up on their coffee table. She had never done this in my home before but I think I was cooking bacon and she couldn't see what I was doing from the couch but had a great vantage point for the table. What a goof, I just love this dog!
