And what a fabulous day it was! The recital is always an ordeal. Getting downtown on time, getting Sid into the change room and ready to go on stage 6 numbers before her dance. Costumes, makeup, perfect hair. and months of learning and practicing the dance. This year, being our third recital, was different. Sid's dance was second in the second act so dropping her off was a breeze. We had the entire intermission to have her ready and I didn't have to sneak in and out of the packed auditorium. The transitions went beautifully and our ballerina danced her heart out. This year they were crayons and danced to a Colour Your World Crayola song. Very, very cute. Sadly two partners got mixed up while walking on stage and the dance came to a complete halt. For the first minute 17 kids just stood there looking at each other. Sid did her part at the other end of the line and waited to skip around the stage. It all took shape eventually and the kids pulled off the second half of the dance.
I was so proud of Sid, she kept on going through the entire thing and once again was not afraid of dancing in front of 1000 people. Not something I could EVER do! The most rewarding part is meeting Sid back in the change room where she is waiting with a huge "I did it!" smile spread across her face. Such well deserved joy and pride. Good for you Sid, you danced beautifully once again and Mom and Dad are so proud of you! xoxoxox
We watched the second half of the show and then planned to take Sid out to lunch, however Sid wanted to go right to drama class instead. We thought we would miss it because of the recital but surprisingly we had enough time to make it and Sid was ecstatic to spend time her best friend. While the girls were in class, the parents came up with a great plan! Dad's would take the girls to see Kung Fu Panda in 3D and mom's would take themselves over to the Pow Wow and we'd all meet back at 5:00.

It was a very cold walk to the dairy barn but as always it was worth it to be able to pet and brush the little calves in the calf barn.
After all the mucking about in the barns we got home and Sid decided she wanted to practice her ballet. I caught a few great pictures of her in her dancing glory.
Fittings for the ballet recital in June with be happening this weekend. Sid is very excited to be in a recital even though she had NO idea what a recital is. All she knows is she gets to dress like Tinkerbell and is in group 4 with her friend Charlotte. I will have to borrow a video camera to capture this, it should be priceless.

Sid is the little one in the middle catching on really quickly. It i shard to believe all these kids are only 3 years old. Charlotte is left of Sid and also a tiny kid.
