Provincial Weekend!

We were so lucky, it was a gorgeous day for driving and the 6.5 hour drive to London flew by thanks to good company!
At the hotel the girls met up and Meg gave Sidney and Caylie a kajukenbo necklace that matched hers.  They are Kajukenbo sisters!!!
Friday night was pretty low key, some food, some swimming and some giggles then off to be by 11:00 because the tourney started at 9:00a.m. sharp!
Despite her sleepiness, it was time to get warmed up for continuous fighting and Hugo did a terrific job!
Cards were put in the envelope and Sid grins as she sees she gets two fights if she doesn't get the bi.  Sid loves continuous fighting!
Two minutes of all out fighting.  A win against Mataya
Nice drop kick!  And after another two minutes it is a win against Kalie
Winner!
Gold for sid and a spot at the National try-outs!

For the first time Sid competed in Hard Style kata against 12 others.  Most were black and brown belts.
Sid takes 3rd place!
Next mat was Chinese form and they were waiting for her.  Because the hard style division was so big they had to run it twice with two different judges.  So Sid did a really quick change into her silks and....
Took first in Chinese form!  But then they were waiting for her in the weapons division!  7 girls competing and we have no idea what their forms looked like because Sid was doing her Chinese form.  She changed her uniform again and walked onto the mat and was told her bo was not the right one.  She couldn't use her tapered bow.   Her friend Mataya lent Sid her thick traditional bow and Sid did her kata never having used anything like that before!
Not having to think about it was probably a good thing!

Bo staff earns her 3rd out of 7!  Another bronze!
Then it was down time with friends while we waited for the point fighting division to begin.
Point fighting was great.  Sid beat Kalie but lost to Mataya to take 2nd!
So in her 5 divisions she took two gold, one silver and two bronze.   She really took it up a notch this year!  Nationals is going to be quite the 3 day event since they compete in everything twice!
Back at the hotel we celebrated with daiquiris (virgin ones for the girlies), wings and nachos!
The Kajukenbo sisters rocked today!  All 12 of the competitors that went to London did really well, everyone qualified in at least one division!
Hotel room fun ensued, and nothing got broken.  Maybe a little pride when the mom's attempted their kata but they heal quickly!
Sid's hair salon!
Sunday was a beautiful uneventful drive home and back to the routine of our regular week!
Monday night at the club we gathered for the group shot.  9 out of 12 competitors who went to London.  We are so proud!
I took this picture because it is really meaningful to me. Mother nature reminds us to persevere, and we will overcome.
