Friday we got together with friends from our Wednesday Young Homeschoolers Group. We met at Jack Pine Trail to see if we could feed the deer and the ever hungry chickadees. Above you can see Sid in the middle with Isabella on the left and Elizabeth on the right. All of them are four years old and these girls are so precious together. All from like minded families and very kind with each other. After a couple rolls in the snow in the parking lot, they held hands and took off in the woods with the adults and Elizabeth's baby brother Laurence in tow.

After about 10 minutes of bird watching and feeding we headed on our way towards the spot where there are often deer.
Sid pauses to check on baby Laurence. When she talks to Laurence her voice goes up about two octaves and he almost always rewards her with a beautiful smile.
Made it all the way to the boardwalk and bog but still no deer. Time to turn around and start heading back. It was almost 1:00 so Sid was ready to eat. But wait, what is that in the woods?

Everyone was silent as we watched the deer through the trees and then the girls remembered that we had carrots to feed him. They stood holding carrots for a few minutes then one of the girls suggested to the others that they should leave a trail of carrots so the deer would follow us back to the cars. Here the girls work together to leave a carrot trail.
Once all the carrots were lined up Sid and Isabella hid behind a tree to see if the deer would come and eat.
No luck waiting for the deer so it was time to start walking back to the cars. Again, more spontaneous hand holding.
Once packed up we all headed over to Magda and Elizabeth's for lunch and hot chocolate. The girls played and bonded for a couple hours while the mom's had a lovely afternoon unwinding. It was a perfect day.

Just before Valentines Day Sid and I made heart shaped spice cookies. Sid did the mixing, the rolling, the cutting and the sprinkling of sugar on top. She did it all!
The best part is the taste testing when they are still warm. 
You can probably guess that she dressed herself. What you can't see are the pajama bottoms under her skirt and the bright turquoise socks with a lime green pompom fringe, topped off with a pair of lime green crocs. She is quite the fashion Diva lately.
This past weekend we had a girls day and went to the mall after ballet. We had our hair cut and Sid requested to have her hair washed and was treated like a little lady. I wish I could have captured the grin on her face.
Monday night Ken is going to Montreal to see Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck. Check back soon to see if he got any good pictures with his phone.
The weekend of the 12th was Westminster one of the biggest dog shows of the year. I received this link earlier today and it is hilarious. It isn't what you think, check it out!
