Perseid Meteor Shower

Thursday night was the best night for seeing meteors. With a promise of up to 80 meteors an hour, it was an opportunity we couldn't miss. We unpacked the old tent (couldn't find our great big 10 man dome tent) and it did the trick. Here is a series of shots of Sid and Groovy working together to pitch it.

Groovy showing Sid how to lay out the tarp

Groovy positioning the tent before attaching the poles Groovy showing Sid where the poles connect
Groovy reminding Sid that she forgot to attach the fly.
Job well done!

We had our dinner then carried the queen size futon mattress out to the tent and made up a bed for the night. After a nice walk in the woods it was around 8 pm so we started a campfire and played some music while Sid danced and we waited for darkness.

Around 9 pm I saw the first huge meteor. It was awesome. It forced me to go back into the house and get out single air mattress out so we could stare at the sky while camped out at the fire. We saw so many meteors and Sid crashed in my arms around 11:00 and went into the tent. Ken and I stayed up until 2:00 watching stars, playing music and enjoying the fire. It was a rough Friday morning, it came quickly with the 8:15 train flying through the backyard nice and early.

It was Sid's first real camp out in a tent. We have camped in the past with her but it was in a motorhome. She had lots and lots of fun!
