Medieval Fun

The township of Osgoode holds a Medieval Festival every year and this year we participated in Education Day. For a mere 5.00 each, Sid, Bella and Huwyl were signed up as a group and were able to tour through 10 different stations that represented medieval life. We arrived for 9:30 and made it until 1:30! The kids saw, experimented and learned so much. What a wonderful opportunity for such a small price. Thank you Osgoode!

The kids try their hands at chess and enjoyed it. We just touched on the rules. We will have to purchase a chess set, this was really fun!

Using a mortar and pestle to grind the flour for the bread which they were cooking over an open fire.

Sid and Huwyl sword fight to the death. Well ok, not to the death but let's not spoil it for them :)

Mini catapults

Stilt walking which Sid LOVED. She has always wanted a pair of stilts.

Huwyl and Sid wearing chain mail with Princess Bella at their side.

Sir Kevin getting suited up.

Kevin is wearing 75lbs of armour!

The kids were quite done by the end of the day but it was a fantastic experience. We will do it again next year if we have the chance.

Maggie expressing her displeasure.

On the home front we have had a very exciting week with foster Lilly here. Maggie doesn't always feel the same about her but we love this dog. I can't believe the family gave her up and are still waiting to figure out why. Lilly is great with other dogs and kids, walks on a loose leash. Is not prey driven but is very play driven. Likes the cats and approaches them with interested but without murderous thoughts. Is cuddly and is actually learning her name! Her bad habits so far are drinking out of the toilet and refusing to eat unless she is hand fed. That is it! She is so lovely. We will continue to hold our breath to see what she is really like!? The family surrendered her because she jumps on people, digs in the yard if left alone and can be mouthy. Hellllooooooo it's an Airedale hehehe. These dogs never mature before three and will keep you on your toes. She is a typical Airedale with a very nice calm and loving disposition.

Groovy and Maggie on the top step, Lilly in the middle being a clown.

Lilly found one of Sid's old soothers in Sid's doll stuff. I chased Lilly around the house trying to get it back and she finally thought she was safe under the kitchen table.

I've just taught her how to do tunnel.

Very play driven. Get it Lilly!

What a beautiful 18 month old airegirl!

My two favorite things about Lilly are that she is uber cuddly. She will curl up with me on my bed and sleep snuggled up to me and secondly she loves Sid and follows her around. I have been sending the two of them out to play together and they go outside and actually play together! Yesterday I looked out and they were both on the trampoline! Sid was jumping gently and Lilly was lying down being bounced around. She is bringing a real spark to our home!
