The festivites started with a swim and a campfire! Dad taught Sid how to swing the hatchet to make kindling and she was thrilled to take on the job of fire keeper. She chopped, stoked and poked the fire to perfection.
A worker must remember to stay hydrated in this 30 degree weather!!!
Groovy attempts to make her own kindling the old fashion way!
And it can't be all work and no play. Even the best fire keepers need to take a play break!
Canada day rolled around and we picked up Reece and went to the local Canada Day party.
Snocones and butterflies!
Goofy girls enjoying the day!
Climbing, twisting, jumping, racing.... these two girls are both very good climbers and a good match in the playground!
A final stop in the fire truck to meet the nice young firefighter try the siren and lights. :)
Grubby feet mean a good time was had!
What a great day capped off with a fabulous fireworks display. We met up with Pierre, Nat, Johnny and Naomi (two of Sid's karate friends) and had greats seats. The fireworks were a little delayed so the kids started doing karate together. Johnny is getting his belt test next Saturday so they thought pushups would be a good way to spend some time while waiting lol. I brought the tripod and camera (of course!) and was playing around with long exposures. These are not your standard fireworks pics but I thought they were kind of cool :)
Happy Birthday Canada!
Fantastic pics with your fantastic new camera!
