We all wore our Nations colours with pride today. We stayed pretty low key but celebrated by having a really nice family weekend.

We went out Sunday to visit a friends cottage and ended the day with a lovely dinner out at Montana's
Monday we decided to go strawberry picking because the next few days looked like rain. It was fun to go as a family this year. The berries were a bit over ripe and you can tell the buckets of rain we had last week did some damage. There were lots of mushy berries we had to pick through to find some not too ripe ones. Our hands showed the evidence of a juicy berry patch!
We have to taste test just to make sure they are good :) Test complete and successful.
Nice to have a helper these days.
Since all the grocery stores were closed for the holiday, we took a trip into the best Ice Cream shop EVER in Russell. They have soft serve but it is made with real cream. So I snuck in and bought a large cup of half chocolate and half vanilla to go with our strawberries after dinner.
We got home, had some sausage on the BBQ, roasted carrots and green beans and mashed potatoes followed by strawberries and ice cream. YUMMY!
There is always a big party in Vars with fireworks but after spending just a bit of time in the yard with the blood draining mosquitoes we elected to do our own fireworks and then head inside. The oodles of rain have created just the right conditions for big hungry mosquitoes.
It was a wonderful Canada Day. Thank you my family for such a memorable and fun weekend!
